Teacher, Administrator
Mary Beth started working in education in 1970, mostly as a kindergarten teacher, and in my later years, as a school administrator. She was a vital part of the educational community wherever as she worked tirelessly with children and their parents.
Mary Beth was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure in 2012; peritoneal dialysis followed for over 4 years; and her kidney transplant came in 2016 when she received a kidney from Konrad Reulan. Konrad had recently added his name to the voluntary organ donor list. He was 29 years old when he tragically passed, unexpectedly.
Her experience with kidney disease and its consequences made her passionate about helping those with this disease. She is a founder of the team at UCLA that started the Core Kidney Program. Participation in it has allowed her to share her talents with those on their kidney journey, helping them to make decisions and to advocate for their care.
