Kym Karath started acting at 3 years old after being discovered at her father’s restaurant in Hollywood. She appeared as Henry Fonda’s daughter in “Spencer’s Mountain”, Doris Day’s daughter in “The Thrill of it All” and as Jack Lemmon’s daughter in “Good Neighbor Sam” before being cast as ‘Gretl’, the youngest Von Trapp in “The Sound of Music.”

Many TV roles followed in shows such as “My Three Sons”, “Lassie”, “FBI”, “Lost in Space”, “Dr. Kildare” and “Brady Bunch” until she took time off to focus on her education. After graduating with honors from USC, Kym resumed her career appearing in “Archie Bunker’s Place” and “Midnight Offerings”, before deciding to move to Paris to act and study art history. She fell in love and married. After returning to the U.S., she appeared in “All My Children” before deciding to start a family. Her son, Eric, contracted meningitis at 3 weeks old, and his consequent disability changed the trajectory of her life. When Eric was 15 years old, Kym returned to California from the East Coast, so that Eric could attend the special ed class of a beloved and well respected teacher.
