Jamie Montgomery is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of March Capital. Since its inception in 2014, March Capital has emerged as one of the leading private technology investment firms in North America. Jamie’s strategy is to invest in disruptive technologies and business models addressing major market opportunities and societal needs. His investments at March Capital include CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD), ASAPP, Descartes Labs, Forter, Earnin, Generate Biomedicines, KnowBe4 (NASDAQ: KNBE), ThoughtSpot, and Tessian.
Jamie started March Capital after the culmination of a career advising, financing and mentoring entrepreneurs at the Investment Bank he founded—Montgomery & Co. At Montgomery & Co, he advised over 500 companies, financed over 200 companies and took approximately 40 companies public.
Jamie is the founder and host of The Montgomery Summit, a premiere technology conference that attracts over 1,000 global entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate executives to Santa Monica. His episode (EP 29) of the Crazy Amazing Humans Podcast was recorded live at The Montgomery Summit in 2022. With the Montgomery Summit, Jamie authentically creates community and connection to educate and empowers the tech community to collaborate and innovate.
Jamie has provided leadership to a series of philanthropic causes throughout his lifetime as well as leadership to March Capital’s community engagement and philanthropic programs. Jamie has a passion for supporting higher learning through hands-on leadership and spearheading campaigns that support schools and universities. He actively supports programs for innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of California, San Diego, Claremont McKenna College, the University of Southern California, and Chapman University. He is currently Chair of The Campaign for St. Matthews and Vice-Chair of the $3 Billion Capital Campaign for UCSD. He has served in voluntary leadership and board positions at UC San Diego, Claremont McKenna, Chapman University, Stanford University, Brentwood School, Westmark School, Boy Scouts of America, California Science Center and a range of other not-for-profit organizations. He also rolls up his sleeves and does hands-on work with organizations and members of communities such as mentoring scouts to become Eagle Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America and transforming lives of students who live with language-based learning differences at the Westmark School. Jamie currently serves on the Board of Directors of ASAPP, Descartes Labs, Forter, & Tessian, and he is a Board Observer at Earnin & ThoughtSpot. He focuses on identifying disruptive technology companies and providing capital at a critical inflection point. Jamie has a track record of successful exits including the IPO of Magnite (NASDAQ: MGNI) and the sale of TeleSign to BICS. Additionally, Jamie was a Board Observer at CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD) and played a key role in its growth as a private company. Jamie was recently selected as the 2022 Alumni Honoree for UCSD and you received the prestigious Changemakers Award. Jamie received his M.A. in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a B.A. from the University of California, San Diego.
